My name is András Csengő, born (Utrecht, The Netherlands, February 17, 1963) and raised in the Netherlands with Hungarian roots. My parents fled their homeland in early November 1956, which was being overrun by advancing Soviet tanks. The Hungarian uprising was brutally crushed, and my parents could not return...

Until the late 1990s, I resided in the Netherlands and graduated in business law from the University of Groningen. I gained commercial work experience at various internationally operating companies, including Heineken.

After the turn of the millennium, I lived and worked in Central and Eastern European countries, including Hungary. Currently, I live in the land of my roots with my family. I have been an independent entrepreneur and independent publicist for some time now.

András News Network

You can find multiple columns on this website every week on various topics. I usually comment on current news events in the field of (international) politics, socially relevant occurrences, sports, and more. I enjoy responding to hypocritical statements from politicians and other influencers.

My style is critical/satirical, but I always try to put things into perspective. However, sometimes I am not successful in these efforts……..

Trump's excessively long tie

Trump's excessively long tie

Immediately, there was criticism of the American news channel CNN after Donald Trump gave a 70-minute interview to journalist Kaitlin Collins. The main criticism was how it was possible for this pathologically lying "pussygrabber" to receive airtime on one of America's largest news channels. CNN responded to the critics in the only correct way: ’we simply cannot ignore Trump because he is currently the main challenger to Joe Biden for the presidency, which will once again be vacant in 2024.’ The Trump camp could have capitalized on ignoring their hero with phrases like: ’let’s face it, in reality the Democrats are anti-democratic’, and more nonsense of this kind.

The (inter)national press particularly focused on Trump's claim that the previous presidential elections were ’stolen’, or ’rigged’. Well, this didn't surprise me at all. What immediately caught my attention was the usual excessively long tie that the pussygrabber had once again tightly knotted. The tip of the tie frequently came close to touching the little seat on which Trump was positioned. Additionally, there was a cup with the CNN logo in front of him on the table. It disappointed me a bit that Trump agreed to this, especially because of the oversized "ear" of the cup.

Hey, funny columnist, are you going to talk about the content as well? Okay, I'll highlight a few things. First of all, Trump believed that he would grant pardon to all the ’The Capitol invaders’ if he were to enter the Oval Office again. Did he regret the attack on American democracy? Regret? That word is not in the vocabulary of this clown but words like ’revenge, hatred, retaliation’ etc., certainly are. In bold, capital letters... I hope that some influential Republican politicians were cringing at the venomous antics of their ’leader’. Oh well, let me not have any illusions; those ’politicians’ are only interested in ’money and power’, they dumped their conscience at the landfill years ago. It's as simple as that.

The second statement that, in my opinion, can be characterized as tragicomic is Trump's statement about the Ukraine war. He claimed he would ’end it within 24 hours.’ In more or less democratic countries around the world, opposition politicians would never get away with such repulsive bar talk. Imagine if Ron Desantis were to claim the following: ’If I become president I will personally put an official ban on the expression ’woke’. Using this word in public means is a criminal act to be punished with imprisoning for at least 6 months’. Okay, even then, quite a few ’crackpots’ would vote for him. Maybe even more. And Maybe he would get the number of votes he needs to become the next president of the States……

Now that old Joe Biden has also announced his candidacy for the next presidential elections, it is conceivable that he might lose to Donald Trump. Or to Ron Desantis…..The problem for the Democrats is that there is no appealing ’crown prince(ss)’ eagerly waiting in the wings. As a result, we will witness a regrettable election campaign between a frail-looking acting president and a complete idiot at an advanced age. But the latter doesn't look frail; soon he'll be standing in a packed stadium, delivering a speech with a baseball cap on his head and an excessively long tie tightly knotted. It wouldn't surprise me if he also holds a baseball bat in his hand soon...

Throughout history, it is common to fear complete chaos, death, and destruction in the world. With the re-election of Trump, I'm afraid I will start to fear an ’armageddon’

’It's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine).’ We know this title from the American rock band R.E.M., and it carries an important message for me. We are all heading towards destruction (with or without an excessively long tie), so enjoy it while it lasts. Thanks, R.E.M. guys, I will...
